It’s finally been tested and scrutinised, and can now be bought for the modest sum of £2.50 via Ravelry.

Thanks to all the lovely people test knitting this for me!

Airy Fairies

by on December 9th, 2009

The mystery pattern has bloomed into a Real Pattern! It’s currently being test knitted by lovely people from Ravelry’s “Free Test Knitters” group.

I expect to have it up for sale in the new year – it will be cheap but worth it!

SlytherWho?

New pattern up on Ravelry – come see it!

This weekend we were away in Filey, and after Mr L and I visited the Vicar (wedding in August next year!), he bought me some Alpaca Soft from the LYS. What else to do than to make a scarf inspired by his favourite favourite SciFi/Fantasy characters?

Other than that, Christmas presents are in the making, and the Mystery Project is getting on.

Catching Speed

by on November 3rd, 2009

So, I’ve now got a total of 5 projects cast on (pictures on the right), and I can’t seem to slow down! On top of knitting, I am working away on designs, wishing intensely that I knew how to tech ed (poor Ash is having to translate my babble into real, actual patterns)!

My mum told me yesterday how she misses knitting, so I might convert her back to the fold over Christmas, when she’ll have a whole week of RnR at our place (which is now quickly filling up with wool and needles…)

Anything else? Not really, just trying to implement some form of regime in my life to successfully accommodate all the madness.

Bluefaced Luxury

by on October 27th, 2009

So, my knitting adventures continue. On Saturday Ashley and I day-tripped to Bluefaced to gorge on wool rovings and yarns. I couldn’t stop touching things!

I’m going back as soon as I can to get some more of the Luxury Aran (80% Baby Alpaca/20% Silk) Ash gifted me, as I’ve been knitting up a cowl for someone special, and need to get more to make myself a jumper.

It’s been a manic past month or so – I’ve taught myself to knit and even though I am loving it, it’s become a complete change in creative direction.

So much so that I am slowly gathering a sketchbook full of design ideas – and hopefully they will come to fruition!

Well, I’ve got 9 rows of stockinette to finish before lunch is over, so I’ve got to get a move on!

Short and Stout

10 downloads on my first crochet pattern on Ravelry!

Make sure you go have a look if you haven’t already, and I am looking forward to see the projects!

Winter warmers

by on October 12th, 2009

Last night I finished the Winter Wrist Warmers – taking me only two three hour sittings to finish them. As per usual Ella-ness, I had to alter the pattern. In hindsight, I should have chosen an aran instead of chunky, but now they’ll match the hat that may come Ash-way at some point (she’s a knitting angel, that lovely Ashley…)

I also got my yarn and needles from Ethknits today! I’m being courageous, and trying to repress the fact that I’ll have to learn binding off when I get there… I will post pictures as soon as I come home, and will most likely be knitting on full speed all night.

Mr Darcy!

by on October 11th, 2009

Watching Emma on BBC, I noticed Mr Woodhouse was wearing a grey knitted scarf – I loved it so much I’ve decided to recreate the pattern, and upload it on Ravelry… It seems to be a simple but gorgeous mix of moss and garter stitch. Once I get my needles in the post (hopefully tomorrow!), I’ll cast on and see if it uses aran or a chunkier yarn (I’ve still got some Robin Super Chunky frogged from my old jumper project), here are pictures of the original…
